<image:title>News and Events - Lifeline’s New Campus To Expand Addiction Recovery Services - NEWS RELEASE</image:title>
<image:caption>Lifeline Recovery Center, a faith-based residential treatment center for those addicted to drugs and alcohol, announced plans Thursday for expansions to make their services available to more people. The center, which started in 2004, has purchased 46 acres near Lovelaceville for its men’s campus. The property had been developed recently by a church with existing classroom, dormitory, office, dining and recreational facilities, which Lifeline said fits their needs. “It’s like it was built for us,” said Ashley Miller, executive director. Board chair Steve Powless said Lifeline’s board had been exploring options for three years for its men and women clients. “Beginning very humbly in a homeless shelter, Lifeline is now celebrating the acquisition of a property that is going to open many doors for us in the future,” he said. More than 50 men moved recently from the original campus on Morgan Lane to what Lifeline now calls “The Ranch” in Ballard County. Next, Miller said, the center will renovate the Morgan Lane campus for its women clients, now housed on Bloom Avenue. “We will boost the number of women to be housed at one time from the current 21 to 50,” she said. With support from hundreds of individuals, churches and community organizations, Lifeline is able to offer a long-term, low-cost residential recovery program for approximately 150 people each year. Since 2004, more than 2,000 people have been treated; 63 percent of them have remained sober after one year. The licensed program is nationally accredited. Powless said addiction continues to be a growing problem, with six people dying daily in Kentucky. Lifeline turns away half of all applicants because of limited resources, but he hopes more people can be treated soon with the expansion of its facilities and staff. “With your support, we can see more changed lives when no one who wants to get sober is turned away,” he said. More information is available at LifelineRecoveryCenter.org, including ways to donate.</image:caption>

Lifeline serves about 150 men and women each year at separate campuses. Lifeline is able to offer low-cost residential treatment for alcohol and drug addiction because of support from individuals and organizations, such as the Kentucky Colonels. “We are grateful to the Kentucky Colonels and other generous donors who recognize the need for our program and the value we provide to clients,” said Ashley Miller, Lifeline executive director, “so these men and women can achieve sobriety to return to their families and jobs.” The grant came from the Kentucky Colonels’ Good Works Program, which recently awarded $3.1 million to Kentucky programs.</image:caption>

<image:title>News and Events - Lifeline celebrates 15 years of changed lives through women’s program - NEWS RELEASE</image:title>
<image:caption>In 2007, when addiction was raging, Terrye Peeler believed the region was overdue for a women’s faith-based drug and rehab program. Lifeline Recovery Center for women was born. “From that first group to the current group of ladies, I have witnessed God’s hand forever changing lives that once seemed lost and hopeless,” said Peeler, a founding member and retired executive director of Lifeline. Now 15 years later, the center is celebrating hundreds of changed lives. Lifeline operates two Paducah campuses – the men’s campus began in 2004, and the women’s campus followed in May 2007. Becky Pritchett of Marshall County was in its first class. Now sober for 15 years, Pritchett knows firsthand the program’s impact: “If not for Lifeline, I wouldn’t be here,” she said, “and I think a lot of people can say the same thing.” Lifeline’s current executive director, Ashley Miller, a 2014 graduate of Lifeline, agrees. “I was once right where they are,” Miller said, “so I am able to connect with them on a personal level to give them guidance from a nonjudgmental place.” About 45 women go through the nine-month residential treatment center each year. Eleven staff members and 45 volunteers provide the programming, which includes classes, counseling, and volunteer work. Brenda Grooms, a Paducah realtor, has volunteered as a Bible class teacher since the women’s campus opened. “I did not know anyone in addiction,” she said. “I tell them I don’t know where you’ve been, but I sympathize with you. Even cigarette smoking was a hard addiction to break for me!” The staff and volunteers keep up with many former clients, many of whom come back as volunteers or even staff. “They come back,” Grooms said. “They always hug me, they really appreciate it. That thankfulness is the reward we get.” As the center looks ahead to more anniversaries, Miller said the goal is to grow, so more people can experience the change she has. “Nothing brings me more joy than to see them change their lives and restore their families.” Contact Ashley Miller at 270.443.4743</image:caption>

      <image:title>History - 2000</image:title>
<image:caption>Members of the faith community united in their desire to help men who struggled with addiction. They were concerned about the physical and spiritual devastation of families hurt by addiction. In 2002, they rented a house on Kentucky Avenue for $1 per year for five years. Their faith-based classes, such as Anger Management and Stepping into Freedom, grew until they had a full house every week.</image:caption>

      <image:title>History - 2004</image:title>
<image:caption>With a vision of a Christ-centered residential rehabilitation facility for men with addiction, the founders looked at an old homeless shelter at 2806 Morgan Lane. They had only $200 to buy the $90,000 property. They believed men who committed to Christian values could be freed of addiction. They shared their vision on local television, in a story broadcast by the NBC affiliate WPSD-TV, and felt their prayers had been answered when a $20,000 donation arrived. That donation was the down payment for the purchase of the property.</image:caption>

      <image:title>History - 2005</image:title>
<image:caption>Nine women, led by former executive director Terrye Peeler, wanted to develop a program for women similar to Lifeline’s service for men. They met weekly, prayed and gathered information. When the men’s program moved, the women’s program began classes in the Kentucky Avenue house, as well as in the McCracken County Jail. Later that year, Ladies Living Free moved to Bloom Avenue.</image:caption>

Furthermore, Lifeline celebrated a ribbon-cutting for a new men’s dormitory and also recognized the leadership and philanthropic support of Terrye Peeler (past executive director) and Kenny Hunt (board member) by naming the newest men’s dormitories (2020 and 2021), Peeler and Hunt Hall.</image:caption>

      <image:title>History - 2022</image:title>
<image:caption>Lifeline built on (2021) AODE licensure and CARF accreditation by receiving 3-year, 3.5 and 3.1 ASAM accreditation status for both campuses. This momentum positioned Lifeline to receive Medicaid reimbursement for the first time in program history helping to diversify Lifeline’s revenue model. Furthermore, Lifeline courageously purchased a new 46-acre property which now serves as the new men’s campus.</image:caption>

      <image:title>History - 2023</image:title>
<image:caption>2023 was a year of investing in Lifeline employees. A first in Lifeline’s history, the board unanimously approved creating access to a benefits package for all employees. In addition, a full-time registered nurse was hired to support clients on campus and a chief financial officer was hired (another first). The women’s campus was relocated to Morgan Lane where male clients were traditionally located. The community continued to demonstrate their spiritual support and philanthropic support of Lifeline as evidenced by two sold-out events (The Annual Banquet and The Annual Golf Outing). Board, staff and volunteers rejoiced when they witnessed the fruits of the labor with the largest group of Lifeline graduates ever- 56!</image:caption>
