LIFELINE AWARDED $270k FROM STATE COMMISSION

Lifeline Recovery Center of Paducah will receive $270,464 from Kentucky’s Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission for substance abuse treatment at its women’s campus in McCracken County and men’s campus in Ballard County.

It is one of 75 Kentucky organizations to receive $19.8 million in grants announced by Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman in Louisville Thursday.

Statewide, about $12 million was awarded for treatment and $7 million for prevention. All of the funding comes from the state’s share of more than $900 million from settlements with corporations involved in the deadly opioid crisis.

Coleman said the funding is distributed throughout the state. “This scourge has devastated the flatlands in the west to the mountains in the east,” he said.

Executive director Ashley Miller thanked everyone – staff, board, community leaders – who advocated for Lifeline, resulting in the award of its full request. “This is such a big win for Lifeline,” she said, “for everyone who benefits from our services to get sober so they can return to their families, their jobs and their communities.”

Lifeline board chair Steve Powless said the grant will benefit local clients through additional staffing, equipment, transportation and some startup assistance for those who complete the program.

Lifeline is a Christ-centered long-term residential recovery program serving approximately 200 area adults each year, totaling more than 2,000 since it began in 2004. It is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. It acquired the men’s 45-acre campus in 2022 and is currently developing a 45-acre campus near Barkley Regional Airport for women.
