Lifeline Recovery Center has been awarded $188,000 for a multi-phased workforce development program to equip clients for workforce readiness.

The grant, the center’s first federal grant award, is one of 25 awarded by the Delta Regional Authority in its eight-state service area.

Lifeline executive director Ashley Miller said the grant will help clients, some of whom have been in jail or homeless, prepare to get jobs through GED, college and entrepreneurial classes on its men’s and women’s campuses.

“Lifeline is one of the few residential treatment programs that require clients to work,” Miller said. “This new workforce readiness program will provide the classes they need to get better jobs, so they can become more productive members of our community after completing treatment.”

Lifeline helps clients seeking sobriety. The Delta River Authority promotes economic development in part of Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee.
