60 Lifeline graduates celebrate new sobriety
Lifeline Recovery Center’s 60 graduates celebrated their new sobriety at a Saturday ceremony, ready to embark on their new lives.
“These 31 men and 29 women are being reunited with their families and returning to their jobs following their treatment,” said Ashley Miller, Lifeline executive director, “and there is a positive ripple effect as their transformed lives affect their families and others.”
More than 2,500 people have been treated at Lifeline since it started in 2004. They spend nine to twelve months in residential treatment for addiction, and all graduates leave with jobs.
Lifeline has expanded recently to accept more clients. The men’s campus, known as “The Ranch,” moved to Ballard County three years ago; and the women’s campus on Morgan Lane is planning to move to a new campus next summer. The new 45-acre campus near Barkley Regional Airport is expected to be completed in 7 months.
Miller, herself a Lifeline graduate in 2014, credited the graduates’ hard work, with the support of their families and the assistance of Lifeline staff and volunteers, for their sobriety success.
Graduates Lavon Davidson—now a technician at Little Tractor—and Lori Gilbert, a 2013 alum, shared at the ceremony. They thanked Lifeline for giving them a new beginning and offered heartfelt encouragement to this year’s graduates as they step into their new lives.
Lifeline, an accredited program, recently expanded its staff of certified drug and alcohol counselors, allowing the admission of more clients. The nonprofit organization serves clients primarily from western Kentucky, depending on charitable donations for most of its budget to keep client costs low.
